- April 22, 2011

Allan, passed away April 22, 2011. He will be greatly missed by his wife Leila; his sons, Mark and Adrian; his four grandchildren, Nikolai, Amanda, Emma and Joshua; and his brother, Robert Iler of Long Beach.

During the Korean conflict, Allan served in the Army Security Agency as as communications expert. As an avid bicyclist, he founded the San Fernando Valley bicycle club in the 1970's and served several terms as president of the club. His love of cycling enabled him to complete double centuries, one triple century, and barely missed completing a quadruple century due to a few short hours. (All cycling centuries must be completed in a 24 hour period). Allan was a life-time member of the American Youth Hosteling, a cycling organization.

After graduating from Carnegie Mellon with a degree in electrical engineering, Allan was employed in the computer industry. As Senior Chief Scientist for Litton Industries for 35 years, Allan traveled worldwide. On these trips, he managed to include recreational cycling.

The Viewing and Memorial Service were held Tuesday, April 26, 2011, at Bastian and Perrott Oswald Mortuary, 18728 Parthenia St., Northridge, CA 91324. Mass on Wednesday, April 27, 2011, 10:00 a.m., at St. John Eudes Catholic Church, 9901 Mason Ave., Chatsworth, CA 91311. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be sent to the Parkinson Foundation in Allan's memory.
