ROSE KALAJIAN
- 2009
A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend, and, up to
the end, the epitome of courage, strength, spunk and humor, passed away
on March 5th in Northridge, CA.
Rose was born in Galt, Ontario, Canada to Bedros and Seranoush
Sarkesian, who ultimately moved their young family to Detroit, Michigan.
She graduated from high school at the age of 16 as a National Honor
Society member and went on to graduate from Detroit Business Institute.
She married the love of her life, Murad, in 1942 and relocated to
Southern California in 1949, where they raised their two sons and
daughter, Thomas, John and Karen. She worked for over 30 years as an
executive secretary, most of which was at Litton Data Systems in Van
Nuys, CA. Upon retirement, Rose pursued her passions for tending her
rose garden, travel, cooking and her family.
In the past several years, Rose ramped up her travel exploits and included her daughter, Karen, on several of the trips. They visited the Taj Mahal and rode elephants in India in 2007, saw Judi Dench and Jeremy Irons on stage in London and dined at Maxim's in Paris. All in all, Rose enjoyed a rich, fulfilling and long life.
Rose was predeceased by
Murad, who passed away in 2000, but leaves behind her loving family,
including her grandchildren Garrett, Michael, Diana, Briana and Adriana,
and her loving brother, Tom Sarkesian, along with many friends.
Services were held on Tuesday, March 10th at 1:00 PM, Oakwood Memorial
Park, Chatsworth, CA. Memorial donations may be made to the Ararat Home
of Los Angeles, Mission Hills, CA or St. Peters Armenian Apostolic
Church, Van Nuys, CA.
